Ram Charan Teja's skydive for Orange?

Tollywood’s upcoming superstar Ram Charan Teja is reportedly planning a daredevil jump from an altitude of 14,000 feet for the intro scene of his forthcoming Orange, directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar under the banner of Anjana Productions.

According to sources, the actor will jump from an aeroplane flying at a height of 14,000 feet. After the jump, he will free fall until 10,000 feet from where the parachute will open for a safe landing. The skydiving will be done under the supervision of stunt coordinator Harry. We wish the actor a safe landing.

Meanwhile, the Orange unit has completed the rest of its shooting in Australia and will be back in a couple of days. The post production would commence once the entire equipment and crew reach India. Producer Naga Babu has already announced that the film will hit screens on November 12.

Obama brings no assurances on UNSC membership, tech exports

Terming India's UNSC membership a 'complicated issue', the U.S. President said he did not want to pre-empt any announcements Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and he are likely to make during his visit

Ahead of his visit, President Barack Obama on Wednesday described India as a “cornerstone” of U.S. engagement in Asia, but held out no assurances on key issues - support for India’s permanent membership of the U.N. Security Council and ending curbs on export of dual-use technology.

Outlining the objectives of his three-day maiden trip beginning Saturday, Mr. Obama said that building “a true strategic partnership” with India had been one of his “highest foreign policy priorities” since he assumed office in January last year.

The visit would give him an opportunity to work with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to bring Indo-U.S. cooperation on a broad range of issues “to a new level”, he told PTI.

The Indo-U.S. partnership “is based on both our shared values and our shared interests, and for these reasons, I welcome and support India’s rise as a global power”, the President said.

India’s rise “is in the best interests of both the countries (India and the U.S.), of the region and the world”, he said.

The President answered a wide range of questions covering contentious issues like U.S. curbs on export of dual-use technology items, outsourcing, UNSC membership and Pakistan’s failure to take action against perpetrators of 26/11 attacks.

‘India’s UNSC membership a complicated issue’

Asked about the possibility of his announcing lifting of curbs on export of dual-use technology items and more concrete support for India’s permanent membership of UNSC, Mr. Obama described the two issues as “very difficult and complicated”.

“Our teams continue to work hard to reach an agreement that strengthens the international non-proliferation system while treating India in a manner that is consistent with our strategic partnership,” he said in a reference to export restrictions that cover items which have both peaceful and military usage.

Without committing himself to a firmer support for India’s bid for permanent seat in UNSC, Mr. Obama said, “I do also expect to discuss India’s role as an actor on the global stage during my visit.

When told that there did not seem to be any “big ticket items” on the agenda, Mr. Obama responded, “I do not want to pre-empt the announcements that the Prime Minister and I will make while I am in India.

“I think you can expect a series of announcements on how we are going to deepen and broaden our cooperation on a range of things that will have a direct and very positive impact on millions of people both in India and the United States.

“There will be big items on the agenda, and - just as importantly - I believe that we will build an even stronger foundation for the U.S.-India partnership going forward.”

‘India a cornerstone of America’s engagement in Asia’

The President went on to emphasise that Indo-U.S. relationship “now goes well beyond any one particular issue”.

He said, “If you look at the breadth of everything we are working on now - from economic engagement to counter terrorism and security cooperation, from clean energy to development...it goes well beyond the type of cooperation that we pursued just a few years ago.”

All this indicated “the enormously positive trajectory of U.S.-India relations”, Mr. Obama said.

Outlining his vision of the relationship between the two countries, the President said, “my vision is a U.S.-India partnership in which we work together to shape a more secure, stable, and just world.

“My visit gives me an opportunity to experience first hand your fascinating country, discuss issues of mutual concern with my friend Prime Minister Singh, and work with him to bring our cooperation on a broad range of issues to a new level.

“It is also important that I am visiting India as the first stop on a major trip to Asia, as I see India as a cornerstone of America’s engagement in Asia, just as it is fundamental to our engagement in multilateral forums like the G-20.

“To me, the U.S. and India share an indispensable partnership, one that has benefits for both our countries and the world.”

Mr. Obama was asked about reports that the U.S. companies were unhappy with some of the provisions of the Nuclear Liability Act passed recently by Indian Parliament to enable the country to engage in nuclear commerce, and whether he would press New Delhi to review it.

He replied, “I have a deep respect for India’s democratic process and I also continue to encourage the Indian government to provide domestic and international suppliers the opportunity to help India meet its ambitious nuclear power generation needs.

“I believe that Indian officials are aware of our concerns over the law that was recently passed by the Indian Parliament. These concerns are shared by many others, including some Indian officials and representatives of Indian industry.

“The important thing is that our governments are working together to discuss these concerns and resolve them. That is a demonstration of the strength of our partnership...how discussing our concerns brings us closer, instead of driving us apart.”

Diwali indian festival telugu festival

Deepavali, often shortened to Diwali, is a major Indian festival that is very significant in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Known as the "Festival of Lights," it symbolises the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for humankind. Celebrations focus on lights and lamps, particularly traditional dīpa or deeya (earthen lamp, as illustrated). Fireworks are associated with the festival. Diwali is a colloquial name used in North India, while the festival is formally called Deepavali in South India.

Diwali Decorative Items
Deepavali is celebrated for five consecutive days at the end of Hindu month of Ashwayuja. It usually occurs in October/November, and is one of the most popular and eagerly awaited festivals in India. Deepavali comes exactly twenty days after Dussehra. Hindus and Sikhs alike regard it as a celebration of life and use the occasion to strengthen family and social relationships. For Hindus it is one of the most important festivals, and beginning of the year in some Hindu calendars. There are several beliefs regarding the origin of the holiday. The most repeated version is that Hindus celebrate Deepavali to mark the time when Lord Rama achieved victory over Ravana. Some also view it as the day Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura or in honor of the day Bali went to rule the nether-world, obeying the order of Vishnu. It is also a significant festival for the Sikh faith. In India, Deepavali is now considered to be more of a national festival, and the aesthetic aspect of the festival is enjoyed by most Indians regardless.

Saradaga Kasepu – Telugu Movie Review telugu cinema

Rajahmundry is just another location, Godavari is just a thinning river and the love story with layers of plot only deviates, and takes the focus off from the three main people in the film. Saradaga Kasepu which starts of interestingly sustains attention only as long as Srinivas Avasarala behaves high-handedly but the moment his character slips into being another routine and submissively funny in nature, it loses fizz. What you see is Srinivas giving meek expressions and Naresh talking away non-stop to the galleries. The viewers may be pardoned for anticipating, a reasonably engaging, down to earth and a humourous take on a changing nature of a love story from a filmmaker like Vamsi.

Saradaga Kasepu turns into a ‘boring ga chaala sepu’, all you do is wonder why a comedian who threatens to pull the zip off from the bag and take out the ’subham card’ in the end doesn’t do it much before. The film would have been atleast okay if there had been some other filler instead of Krishna Bhagawan’s. His scenes with his wife, his colleague and MS Narayana is sheer agony. Ahuti Prasad shimmers but in a weird role of a disciplinarian who has a deep and an abiding love for his dead dog and hardly showers half his affection he has on the canine over his fellow human beings. The film unapologetically ends as a punishment far superior in nature inflicted by Ahuti Prasad on the moviegoers.

Ahuti Prasad has a daughter Manimala (Madhurima) who wears horrendously garish costumes and slips into duets every other moment, the director reduces the film which has a potential of being a good time pass into a farce that could have been handled by any inexperienced person. However there are a few dialogues that sparkle sporadically. The women in Vamsi’s films do not have a substantial role to play now, neither are they made to look simple and beautiful.

The story is about Ranga Babu (Naresh) a driver, trading places with Sreenu (Srinivas Avasarala) on the latter’s insistence as he wants to observe his bride before marrying her. Raja Rao (Ahuti Prasad) is informed about this ploy by Gajapati (Jeeva), Sreenu’s father and he showers affection on the mentioned person accordingly. What he doesn’t know is half way through the journey Sreenu changes his mind and comes out of the disguise of a driver and marches ahead as the real groom. The comedy of error ensues Ranga Babu falls for Raja Rao’s daughter, and Chitti Raju (Krishna Bhagawan) as a lawyer has another plan. He wants to bump off Neelakantam (MS Narayana), brother of Raja Rao for a reason. The climax is anyone’s guess.

P.S.: The publicity of Godavari in Vamsi’s films should seriously stop if the story is not as beautiful as the river.

TELANGANA LAYER SUICIDE IN ANDHRA PRADESH

A showdown between Telangana activists and the Andhra Pradesh government appears certain as the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) selection tests will be held on Sunday despite a Telangana shutdown being called by some students groups.

Four students of the Osmania University here Saturday launched a fast for indefinite period, demanding that the APPSC preliminary exam be postponed until 42 percent of the jobs at stake are reserved for the Telangana region.

The Osmaia University Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for a boycott of the exam and a shutdown in the region Sunday. Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and other groups fighting for a separate Telangana state have also supported the shutdown call.

Alleging injustice to Telangana, leaders of both the ruling Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the region also have demanded that the state public service exam be deferred until the share of Telangana in Group I postings is made clear.

The APPSC, however, was going ahead with the exam as scheduled on Sunday at 445 centres across the state for recruitment of to 198 posts. More than 1.6 lakh candidates are expected to write the exam.

Police were making massive security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exam and prohibitory orders banning assembly of five or more people have been imposed around all exam centres.

Director General of Police K. Aravinda Rao has asked all district superintendents of police to provide a three-layer security cover to the centres to prevent any untoward incident.

All the candidates have been asked to reach the centres well in advance.Meanwhile, educational institutions in Andhra and Rayalseema regions remained closed Saturday in response to the shut down call given by some groups in support of the exam.

Telangana groups see a conspiracy behind the sudden decision of the APPSC to conduct the exam, which were postponed for two years. They have alleged that the exam was being conducted to recruit candidates from other regions without specifying the share of Telangana at time when formation of a separate Telangana had become almost certain.

They even warned the government of a bloodbath if it goes ahead with the exam.TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao has demanded the arrest and prosecution of APPSC chairman Venkatarami Reddy for doing injustice to Telangana in previous recruitments. He alleged that Telangana students who scored well in the written test were deliberately given fewer marks in oral tests to disqualify them from appointments.

The row has erupted close on the heels of an attack on lecturers of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions by Telangana students at Osmania University here. The students were protesting the valuation of B.Ed papers by teachers from other regions.

I am not afraid of stones: Chandrababu Naidu

Hyderabad, Sept. 13: The Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, condemned the protests by Telangana activists as “rowdyism” and said he was not afraid of stones.

“I faced police lathis in Babli,” he said, referring to his arrest in Maharashtra, where he had gone to protest the construction of a barrage on the Godavari.

Trouble started as Mr Naidu was addressing his first meeting at Chevella, criticising the state government for neglecting farmers.

Even as he was speaking, a group of TRS activists shouted “Naidu go back” and “Jai Telangana.” Police took some of them into custody. The TD chief faced even more violent crowds at Pargi. A mob of students attacked the residence of the local TD legislator, Mr Harishwar Reddy, with stones when Mr Naidu and others made a brief stopover for breakfast. When Telangana activists shouted “Naidu go back,” the TD activists hit back by shouting “KCR down down.” The agitators then rained stones and police swung into action, resorted to a lathicharge and chased them away. Police sources said that they had got no information about Mr Naidu stopping at the house of the MLA and this caused trouble.

Mr Naidu left under heavy police escort to Mahbubnagar where he held a dharna along with senior TD leaders including Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy in front of district collectorate office at around 6 pm to protest against fertiliser shortage and harassment of farmers.

“Though I have made it clear that we are not against Telangana, some vested interests are trying to mislead people,” Mr Naidu said at Gundumur in Kosgi mandal. “I want to see a state without poverty.”

Meanwhile, police has made elaborate security arrangements for the Ranga Reddy bandh called by the TRS and supported by the Joint Action Committee.
